Condition Assessment

PCCP is considered to be the only piping material that can be reliably assessed for its condition. Since the late 90s, new technologies have emerged that allow condition assessment of existing PCCP, Embedded Cylinder Type pipe. One is based on electromagnetic field evaluation of the pipe wall to determine if broken wires are present. Another is based on long-term acoustic monitoring by listening to emitted sounds to determine if any originate from breaking wire. In addition, condition assessment companies offer leak detection techniques that can acoustically find leaks, and determine severity and location.
